SUMMARY:In Color: Art Exhibition (Location: Mont Art House)
DESCRIPTION:Show Statement: “IN COLOR” \nThe invention of color television was a monumental innovation. Instead of only seeing in black and white\, viewers were given the opportunity to visually interact with the full spectrum of color\, making the viewing experience infinitely more dynamic\, nuanced\, and filled with creative possibility. While our eyes have access to the full color spectrum\, oftentimes our minds are still stuck in the binary of black and white. Without erasing the power\, emotion\, and contrast of black and white\, this exhibition is an invitation to appreciate the depth that is found when we embrace the full spectrum of color. As you engage the work\, we hope that it moves you beyond the binaries we so often embrace and into the nuance and depth that is waiting to be appreciated in each of us. \nArtist Statement: JASON DEMEO\nJason DeMeo is a contemporary artist working out of Central Florida creating art that instigates transformation & connection. The work reflects his belief that matter is miraculous. Jason’s greatest intention with his creativity is to manifest a world of artifacts\, environments\, and friendships that celebrate beauty\, universal truth\, and goodness. \nOf Italian heritage and originally from Pittsburgh\, Pennsylvania\, Jason has always appreciated the beauty\, serendipity\, and surprise that comes with nature and its natural processes. Nature finds a way to create beauty out of the most mundane things…rusted bridges\, faded shipping containers\, decaying walls…not to mention the unlimited ways that it effortlessly produces art through the use of light\, energy\, and matter. These unexpected moments of beauty serve as source material for Jason’s work. \nHe is exploring a concept that he has coined Synthesism™. It stems from the definition of the word synthesis: “the combining of often diverse elements into a coherent whole.” You can see this theme of blending\, combining\, and remixing happening in many disciplines today\, especially music\, architecture\, and even culture as we grow as a global community. Modernism constructs\, Postmodernism deconstructs\, Synthesism combines. Movements like Bauhaus and Black Mountain College have been instrumental in his thinking. \nWith a deep belief in the power of art to bring transformation to both spaces and people\, he hopes that each one of his works serves as a meditation for the viewer\, drawing them into the story and meaning of the piece\, while simultaneously inviting them to create their own. \nArtist Statement: WAYNE BELL \nWhen describing his body of work\, Wayne Bell calls the movement “Atmostpherism” because it defines what can be made from time and space; how things can be shifted\, molded\, and synchronized into climates unto themselves. Bell is a visual artist known for abstract expressionism with oil paint and unique knife-cut brushstrokes on canvas. His forms compel the viewer to recognize patterns within themselves\, lending perspective with the saturation of color and light. The striations generated from the brushstrokes create gradients of hues. \nBell considers color the most important element in his work and utilizes oil because it\, like the human condition\, is alive\, organic\, and forgiving. \nAfter growing up in Chicago\, Bell spent his teenage years in Texas before attending Morehouse College. There\, he earned a BA in Psychology and delved into other subjects like anatomy\, physiology\, and medical science. He spent the next ten years in Los Angeles honing his craft as a multi-faceted creative. Though never classically trained as a visual artist\, Wayne has always obeyed the urge to create; from his early days building with Legos\, to his current brush technique that now defines his practice. Join us for an art exhibition that celebrates and gives honor to the exceptional history centered around African American Culture. The exhibition will feature paintings\, drawings\, sculptures and mixed-media from various artists showcasing their perspective of how they view black culture. \nBisong Art Gallery has partnered with The D.R.E.A.M Affect Foundation in donating a portion of all art sales to scholarships for students of our local HBCU\, Prairie View A&M University. These scholarships will allow  young artists of color to have the opportunity to broaden there skills and education and reform the under-representation of minorities in the fine arts. \nCulture: Our New Normal inspires healthy conversation around community\, creating change\, and advocacy through education. The creative expression detailed through each artist’s work enables the viewer to find the remarkable impact of the black experience.

Bell’s being since he was 11 years old. \nTrapeze defines the concept of creating a visual experience free and unencumbered by weight and even volume. \nTrapeze is the first visual art exhibit that will combine height\, suspension and aerodynamics thereby creating the perfect marriage of aviation and high art. Something that until now\, has not been exhibited. This exhibit will be presented in multiple cities\, nationally and internationally. \nFor me\, Trapeze is more than the artwork. It’s a way of life\, its transition\, its faith\, its hope and courage. \nTrapeze is about an evolution and elevation of the human spirit. Every aesthetic element of this exhibition serves a specific and deliberate purpose. \nThe evening is to use the art to celebrate the moments in life where our own “true colors” come alive. \nThe works presented at a height are symbols of conquering fear and oneself. The mirrors are the application medium that present the viewer with a reflection of color in an altered reality. \nThis occasion will serve as a journey within and up. I hope that everyone present will leave with something they newly discovered within themselves.

The show centers on the rising influence\, power\, and hope of women in America. \nHarris County District Attorney Kim Ogg will be the Master of Ceremonies. \nCatherine Anspon\, Author and Executive Editor of Visual Arts + Features at PaperCity Magazine; the Honorable Justice Margaret “Meg” Poissant of the 14th Court of Appeals and gallery owner; Jacky Fischer\, CEO and owner of 3-Men Movers\, a Houston Business Journal top female business owner and winner of the national Enterprising Woman of the Year Award; and the Honorable Natalia Cornelia of the 351st Harris County District Court will be the Art Jurors and be in attendance for the opening. \nThe artists will utilize the theme to create visual works of art-paintings\, sculptures\, video\, and performance art. Each artist can enter up to three pieces. Art Jurors will choose 1st\, 2nd and 3rd place with prizes of $500\, $250\, and $100 respectively. Distantly reminiscent of certain Mark Rothko-employed color blending and layering techniques\, the artist allows the viewer to consider an initial “surface” reaction versus deeper color plays and meanings via the titles of each work. DESCRIPTION:About this Event\nWayne Bell calls the movement Atmospherism because it defines what can be made from time and space: how it can be shifted and molded and synchronized into almost a climate of its own. \nHis forms compel the viewer to recognize patterns within themselves. It lends perspective with the saturation in its color and light. The striations generated from the the brushstrokes create gradients of hues. \nAtmospherism is about the process of bending and transforming the given space around us. When we as human beings move and change with our own evolution- how exactly Do we change? And what are the results of said change? \nRebirth is your new self- a new form of who you were. So now\, what are your expectations\, goals\, limitations\, ambitions? Where are you headed in this new life you’ve been given? \nAbout The Artist: \nAfter growing up in Chicago\, Wayne Bell spent his teenage years in Texas before moving to Atlanta to pursue a B.A. in Psychology at Morehouse College. Not satisfied with a narrow scope of education\, he also eagerly studied anatomy\, physiology\, and medical science.
