Cassandra Bohne-Linnard (Bohne-L)

Cassandra Bohne-Linnard (Bohne-L), a native Houstonian, has been creating oil and acrylic paintings for more than 20 years. After retiring from the corporate world, she devoted herself to raising her young family, and within that environment her artistic expression truly flourished.

Her journey into butterfly-inspired art began with Freedom, an abstract oil painting of a blue butterfly. Captivated by its natural beauty, she was inspired to incorporate real, preserved butterflies into her work. This vision gave rise to Blue Butterfly Designs, whose trademark slogan—“the timeless beauty of real butterflies resurrected through art”—beautifully reflects the essence of her creations.

The butterflies used in her pieces are sustainably sourced from around the world and carefully selected for their unaltered, natural colors and beauty. Cassandra is also a proud member of the North American Butterfly Association.

Documentary telling the story behind Cassandra’s art. Filming was done at Cassandra’s studio and at the Cockrell Butterfly Center at the Houston Museum of Natural Science – completed June 2025. Film scheduled for October 2025 release.
